aiinsider ·
Epson Robots has introduced the AX6, a new six-axis collaborative robot designed for applications requiring close worker interaction and compact deployment. The model features power- and force-limiting capabilities that allow it to operate without traditional safety barriers when supported by appropriate risk assessments. Constructed with carbon fiber, the AX6 holds IP54 protection and ISO 5 cleanroom certifications, making it suitable for controlled production environments. It offers flexible programming options through the AX Portal software, which includes both no-code interfaces and Python-based development tools. Additional hardware features include manual teaching controls, Ethernet and pneumatic tool connections, and multiple power input options ranging from 100 V to 240 V AC or 48 V DC. A multicolor LED status indicator provides visual feedback on the robot's operational state, while a 3D simulator aids in pre-testing programs. Rick Brookshire, Epson’s director of product development, noted that the AX6 expands the company’s lineup to address diverse needs regarding speed, interaction, and redeployment. The robot is currently available for purchase through Epson Robots’ distributor network.
