Fambot introduces an ‘AI chief of staff’ for families
techcrunch ·
Fambot is a startup introducing an AI-powered 'chief of staff' designed to help families manage the mental load of children's activities, school events, and logistics. It was founded by former Instagram engineer Greg Karlin and CEO David Reich, a father and ex-Uber product head, who built the product out of his own struggle to keep up with communications while spending time with his kids. The service connects to users' email, calendar, and WhatsApp groups, then offers a daily checklist and a preview of upcoming calendar events. Unlike some other AI agents, Fambot works through web and mobile app interfaces in addition to text messaging, allowing for more advanced features. It uses a combination of AI models and guarantees that none of them train on user data. The beta was tested by over 1,000 families and is currently free on iOS, Android, and the web, with a future price planned to be around the cost of a Netflix subscription. The startup has raised $3.5 million in pre-seed funding from investors including NextView Ventures and Baukunst.
