Feather Robotics has secured $7.6 million in pre-seed funding led by Gradient to expand its modular humanoid robot platform for third-party developers. Founded by former Google and Tesla employees Hoa Mai and Parsa Bakhtiari, the company aims to provide an accessible alternative to expensive or closed-loop humanoid systems. The wheeled bimanual robot is priced at $29,990, offering up to 10 hours of battery life and a one-meter reach while maintaining lower mechanical complexity than legged designs. Since its inception, Feather has generated over $1 million in revenue from sectors including manufacturing and food service. The startup highlights its rapid development cycle, having built its first prototype in two months and fulfilled initial orders within nine months. By providing a software development kit and modular hardware, Feather intends to support independent developers building physical AI applications without requiring them to manufacture their own robots.
