Figma announces new features to define how agents work on its platform
techcrunch ·
Figma has announced several new features at its first Config event in India, aimed at defining how AI agents interact with its platform. The company introduced Figma Specs, a Markdown-based editor that allows teams to define their design language and guidelines for both human users and third-party agents. This tool helps ensure that AI-generated designs adhere strictly to brand rules by providing a centralized reference for design and code libraries. Additionally, Figma is expanding the public beta of its Code Layers feature, which enables interactive prototypes by converting canvas designs into code. The platform also integrated Payload, an open-source headless CMS acquired last year, to support dynamic website generation through Figma Make. Furthermore, Figma expanded its Model Context Protocol (MCP) support to include over 20 new tools, such as Grok Bot and Sarvam. These updates reflect Figma's strategy to manage the non-deterministic nature of AI by steering it toward more predictable and brand-compliant outcomes.
