Figma Debuts Specs Editor to Keep AI Agents On-Brand at First Config India Event
aiinsider ·
Figma has launched Figma Specs, a new Markdown-based editor designed to help teams define their design language for both human designers and AI agents. Introduced at the company's first Config event in India, this tool allows specifications to exist as standalone files or within the canvas, referencing elements like FigJam diagrams and code layers. The feature aims to create a centralized system where Figma’s own and third-party AI agents can adhere strictly to brand guidelines. This release follows the broader availability of Figma’s on-canvas agent and the public beta launch of its code layers feature, which converts designs into interactive prototypes. Additionally, Figma’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) now supports over 20 new tools, including integrations with Indian AI startup Sarvam. Chief Design Officer Loredana Crisan highlighted that AI has significantly expanded code production, much of which is used for product discovery rather than final shipping. The company is also integrating Payload, an open-source headless CMS it acquired last year, with Figma Make to facilitate dynamic website generation. India remains Figma’s largest user market outside of the United States.
