Financial Providers Are Ready For Agentic AI Onboarding, But Consumers Aren’t, Study Warns
aiinsider ·
A recent study by Signicat reveals a significant disconnect between financial providers' readiness for agentic AI and consumer willingness to adopt it. While 79% of financial service providers report being prepared for AI-initiated applications, only 14% of European consumers are comfortable with AI opening financial products on their behalf. Consumers generally prefer a 'copilot' approach, with 65% welcoming AI assistance while retaining control over decisions. However, trust remains low regarding autonomous actions, as only 15% trust AI to verify identity and just 14% allow it to sign contracts. Despite years of digital investment, 60% of consumers still abandon online financial applications due to lengthy processes and excessive data requests. The research indicates that digitally advanced markets like Norway and Finland are particularly resistant to handing over full control to AI agents. Experts suggest that building trust through secure interactions and real-time fraud prevention is essential for bridging this gap.
