Former Plaud Executive Peter Mo’s Ambi Secures $26M to Build Always-Listening AI Assistant
aiinsider ·
Ambi, an artificial intelligence startup founded by former Plaud executive Peter Mo, has secured $26 million in funding. The investment round was led by Luminous Ventures and included participation from original design manufacturer Huaqin. The company is launching applications for iPhone, Mac, and Apple Watch that serve as meeting notetakers with the capability to listen continuously throughout the day. Unlike traditional tools that only automate follow-ups after calls, Ambi’s AI agent proactively offers suggestions during meetings by accessing user calendars, knowledge bases, and web data. Mo emphasizes that the technology aims to make AI accessible anytime and anywhere, rather than keeping intelligence trapped on screens or delayed by upload processes. A desktop application designed to observe work habits and store key details is currently in development, alongside a hardware device featuring a screen, speaker, camera, and microphones. Although ambient capture is off by default and recordings are not stored, Mo acknowledges that disclosure remains an unresolved industry-wide challenge. The startup employs more than 50 staff members across offices in San Francisco, Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.
