Four AI agents powered by Google's Gemini 4 Argon model have successfully beaten Minecraft without any human intervention. Developed by a Google DeepMind team, these autonomous agents were placed in a randomly generated world with no predefined roles or strategies. Over a period of 27 hours and 14 minutes, the agents collaborated to slay the Ender Dragon, sharing tasks, warning each other of threats, and recovering items from deceased teammates. The system demonstrated significant resilience, logging mistakes in shared memory despite dying 605 times during the run. Throughout the session, the agents wrote 2,783 JavaScript programs and exchanged 229 chat messages. The entire autonomous attempt cost $1,620 at the standard pricing for the Gemini 4 Argon model. This achievement highlights the rapid advancement of agentic AI, which can now master complex video games that previously required purpose-built, scratch-trained systems.
