From data to decisions: Conversational supply chain intelligence with Amazon Quick and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore

By leveraging the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the solution allows users to interact with enterprise systems through natural language conversations rather than manual cross-referencing across multiple platforms. The architecture separates the intelligence layer, handled by AgentCore’s modular agents and gateways, from the user interface provided by Amazon Quick. A practical walkthrough demonstrates how a manager can detect disruptions, assess financial impact, and issue emergency RFQs within a single conversational thread. Security and governance are maintained through deterministic policies and human-in-the-loop approvals, ensuring that AI assists but does not autonomously execute critical actions. The approach significantly reduces the time required for complex operational tasks from hours to minutes while maintaining compliance and auditability. Finally, the authors provide detailed technical guidance on deploying this open-source solution using AWS infrastructure components.
