Germany Wants to Lead the World in Industrial AI: How NVIDIA Will Help
nvidia ·
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang met in Berlin to discuss a strategic partnership aimed at establishing Germany as a global leader in industrial AI. The two leaders signed a Joint Declaration of Intent to merge traditional German engineering expertise with advanced artificial intelligence technologies, specifically focusing on the manufacturing and automotive sectors. A key component of this strategy involves encouraging Germany's Mittelstand, or small and medium-sized enterprises, to adopt AI by leveraging their existing data assets. During the Invest in Germany Summit, NVIDIA announced new investments totaling nearly $10 billion across Europe, including specific funding for four German startups: Agile Robots, Avelios Medical, Mirelo, and Reflex Aerospace. Additionally, Siemens partnered with NVIDIA to implement AI-driven autonomous factories, which promise significant reductions in engineering effort and production costs. In a separate scientific achievement, NVIDIA researchers utilized Europe's largest supercomputer to conduct a record-breaking simulation of a fault-tolerant quantum computer. Both officials expressed optimism that combining physical technology with AI will serve as a powerful accelerator for the German economy. They also agreed to meet annually to monitor the progress of these collaborative initiatives.
