Google and Accenture Deepen AI Push as Chrome Accelerates Release Cycle to Fight Security Threats
aiinsider ·
Google has accelerated Chrome's release schedule from every four weeks to every two weeks, with Chrome 153 arriving across desktop, iOS, and Android. The company says the faster cadence is due to security demands, as AI tools and community bug reports have increased patch volume and AI-related threats require quicker fixes. The new schedule also allows Google to ship new features and AI additions more rapidly, amid growing browser competition from AI-native rivals. Meanwhile, Google Cloud and Accenture have launched a joint unit called the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group to embed engineers with enterprise clients and drive adoption of Google's AI tools. Google plans to train up to 1,000 Accenture engineers to build custom applications on its Gemini Enterprise platform. The move follows Google Cloud's strong second-quarter revenue of $24.8 billion and mirrors similar deployment strategies from competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic. However, third-party data suggests Google trails Anthropic and OpenAI in enterprise AI spending among some customers, though Google says the data excludes major strategic deals.
