Google Brings Unified Gemini Agent to Enterprises, Letting AI Act as a Workspace Co-Worker
aiinsider ·
Google has introduced a unified Gemini agent designed to function as an enterprise workspace co-worker, announced at a recent Google Cloud event. CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted that the platform now boasts over one billion monthly active users and is utilized by nearly 90% of Fortune 100 companies through its Enterprise offering. The new agent allows businesses to assign high-level objectives rather than simple instructions, enabling it to plan tasks and utilize custom skills. It integrates with major internal systems including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Jira, BigQuery, Snowflake, and any MCP server. By default, the system selects the optimal model for each task, though users retain the ability to choose alternatives such as Anthropic’s Claude models. The agent operates with its own workspace account and email address, providing transparency through an audit trail and a tasks inbox for monitoring progress. Early testing involved major companies like On, Shopify, and PayPal, while new spending controls like smart routing and real-time caps have been added.
