Google's AI search dropped its emergency-call advice over nationalities but still flags people from Facebook

Google's AI search feature gave users potentially dangerous advice based on nationality, telling them to get to safety or call emergency services when they were alone with an African, Indian, or Pakistani person. For a British person, the same feature suggested tea and small talk about the weather. The differences were first spotted by a Reddit user who shared screenshots of the AI Overviews. Google acknowledged on X that the results did not meet its standards and said it was working on fixes, adding that answers varied widely. Google later told Futurism that the word 'alone' was the trigger, and after that, questions about nationalities returned to normal answers, though warnings persisted in other searches. Now, asking about being alone with someone from Google just explains the viral debate, while for a person from Facebook, it still advises leaving the area and calling 110 if needed.
