Google’s Android update tackles motion sickness, accessibility, and more
techcrunch ·
Google announced five new Android updates designed to improve accessibility, usefulness, and personalization. One feature, Motion Assist, aims to reduce motion sickness by adding a customizable bubble overlay that moves with a vehicle's motion, similar to an Apple feature from 2024. Another, Guided Vision, uses the camera and Gemini to assist blind or low-vision users with tasks like reading small print or identifying objects, and provides voice guidance for camera positioning. A new 'remembered items' section in Find Hub lets users tell Gemini where they stored important items, optionally with photos. Google Messages is gaining Google Keep integration for sharing and editing lists within conversations, as well as new customization options for chat backgrounds, photos, and colors. Some features are catching up to Apple, while others leverage Gemini for enhanced capabilities.
