Governed reports with Amazon Quick Desktop and Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP
aws ·
This AWS blog post describes a governed weekly reporting workflow using Amazon Quick Desktop, Amazon Quick skills, Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP, S3 access points, and Slack. The goal is to reduce manual report preparation from hours to minutes while maintaining trust in source data. Source files remain in FSx for ONTAP under existing governance, and an S3 access point grants Amazon Quick controlled read access to an approved folder. Amazon Quick ingests these files into a knowledge base, and a custom skill called Weekly Business Reporting Assistant guides users through report creation, citations, and Slack-ready summaries. Human review remains required before sharing artifacts or posting to Slack. The implementation involves seven steps: preparing source content, creating the S3 access point, granting IAM read permissions, creating the S3 integration and knowledge base, configuring Slack, creating the reporting assistant, and testing. Prerequisites include an FSx for ONTAP volume with ONTAP 9.17.1 or later, an Amazon Quick Enterprise subscription, and Slack configuration. The pattern applies to operating reviews, risk reporting, and other recurring business documents.
