GPT-6 Astra, an AI model, successfully completed the entire game Portal on its own in about 23 hours and 43 minutes, reaching the credits without human assistance after the initial goal was set. The achievement was reported by developer cozyblaze on X. The model controlled the game via MCP and a modified SourcePauseTool, which paused gameplay while it analyzed screenshots, player position, and camera angle to choose its next inputs. The estimated token cost was at least $570 at list price, though the developer used a cheaper $200 Codex subscription. Code and documentation for the project are available on GitHub. Cozyblaze connected the feat to OpenAI's 2016 vision of a single agent solving many different games, noting that while problems remain, it offers a glimpse of that original goal. The developer also remarked that GPT-6 Astra is likely the worst model we will ever get, implying future improvements.
