Hallo, Deutschland!
mistral ·
Mistral has officially opened a new hub in Munich, Germany, to advance industrial AI within Europe's largest economy. The company aims to partner with German enterprises in sectors like automotive and aerospace by leveraging their proprietary data and process knowledge. This new facility will host specialized research teams focused on Physics AI and Industrial AI, alongside applied engineers supporting enterprise partners. To ensure European sovereignty, Mistral plans to build one gigawatt of compute capacity by 2030 while maintaining an open-weight architecture that keeps data within customer infrastructure. Following the acquisition of Emmi AI, Mistral is collaborating with major companies such as BMW and Siemens Energy on complex simulations for heavy industry. Additionally, the hub has established a research partnership with the Technical University of Munich to develop digital twins for automotive aerodynamics. The move underscores Mistral's commitment to building technological sovereignty and supporting the engineering talent base in Bavaria. Arthur Mensch, Co-founder and CEO, emphasized that this expansion marks a new chapter for both the company and industrial AI in Europe.
