Hark releases an AI personal assistant with a focus on privacy
techcrunch ·
Hark, a startup founded by Brett Adcock, has released Hark Pro, an AI personal assistant designed to operate as an operating system for future computers. Unlike competitors aiming for AGI, Hark focuses on building a user interface that uses a model specifically trained for computer tasks to execute actions on behalf of the user. The application features a full-screen interface with a central chat dialog and visual dashboards called panels, allowing users to configure access to their digital life such as email and calendars. A key differentiator is its transparency; it displays how the agent navigates the web in a small window to build user trust regarding privacy and data handling. Hark emphasizes that it does not sell ads or steal data, positioning itself as a task-oriented tool rather than a profiling entity. While the current software aims to provide end-to-end results better than rivals like Muse, the company plans to release an AI-native hardware device in 2027. This upcoming device aims to move beyond traditional keyboard interfaces, though details about its form factor remain undisclosed.
