Healthleap has secured $38 million in combined seed and Series A funding to expand its AI platform designed to identify undiagnosed conditions in hospital patients. The financing includes an $8 million seed round co-led by Sequoia Capital and First Round Capital, alongside a $30 million Series A led by Hummingbird Ventures. Founded in South Africa in 2022 by siblings Jemima and Josiah Meyer, the company pivoted from clinical nutrition tools to a broader health analytics solution. Healthleap integrates with electronic health record systems to analyze patient notes, labs, and vitals using language models for nightly risk scoring. The software currently operates in over 50 hospitals, including Penn Medicine and Cedars-Sinai, screening for issues like malnutrition and delirium without providing formal diagnoses. Revenue has grown more than tenfold in the past year as the company aims to cover over 40 major conditions. The new capital will support engineering, product development, and sales efforts to expand into outpatient and home care settings.
