Hitachi & Agile Robots Partner to Develop Physical AI for Autonomous Manufacturing
aiinsider ·
Hitachi has entered into a strategic partnership with Germany-based Agile Robots to develop physical AI systems designed for autonomous manufacturing. This collaboration combines Hitachi’s expertise in edge-computing semiconductors and AI with Agile Robots’ advanced robotics platforms, including the Agile One humanoid robot. The joint initiative aims to automate complex factory tasks that currently require human judgment, such as parts handling, machine loading, and assembly. These technologies will be commercialized globally through Hitachi’s HMAX Industry portfolio, which integrates operational data with manufacturing knowledge. The agreement coincides with a separate Hitachi partnership with Fanuc, reinforcing its broader strategy to build an ecosystem for more autonomous industrial operations. By leveraging high-speed, low-power chips, the partners intend to enable robots to recognize changing conditions and make decisions independently. Ultimately, the goal is to enhance global manufacturing competitiveness and support sustainable growth through real-world implementation.
