Honeyjar offers AI tools to improve PR and comms at every company
techcrunch ·
Honeyjar is an AI-powered startup aiming to democratize public relations expertise by making senior-level communication skills accessible to everyone, including founders and non-specialists. Co-founded by Michelle Masek and Nadia Jamshidi, the company seeks to scale the judgment and strategy of experienced PR professionals through automated tools for writing announcements, identifying journalists, and tracking coverage. The platform targets not just traditional PR teams but also marketers, investors, and other individuals who handle communications without formal titles. Honeyjar emphasizes that it does not intend to replace human workers, instead focusing on enhancing the effectiveness of existing teams and allowing practitioners to take on more clients. To ensure quality, the founders are training the AI with their own industry wisdom and insights from other experts via a program called the Comms Lab. This approach aims to provide context-aware advice, such as advising founders when they are not ready for media coverage, rather than simply generating content. Early interest has been strong, with 10,000 waitlist signups in the first 24 hours and beta testers including Nextdoor and Bloomberg Beta. Despite concerns about increased AI-generated spam, the company insists that humans must remain in the loop to approve and send all communications.
