How Vox Group’s AI-Powered Technology Is Solving Real-Time Translation for Group Travel
ainews ·
Vox Group, a 25-year-old guiding technology company operating in over 150 countries, has spent the past year rebuilding its AI-powered guiding technology, Aura, as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. Aura now supports simultaneous translation in up to 200 languages, live accessibility subtitles, and an AI companion designed to support guides rather than replace them. The company says group tours have traditionally handled multiple languages by splitting visitors into language groups or adding interpreters, approaches that add cost and complexity and scale poorly for mixed-nationality departures. Aura's translation library has grown from 50 to 200 languages, and live simultaneous translation can run in up to four languages at once on a single tour without requiring guests to use a smartphone, app, or download. Its AI companion draws only on operator-approved and verified sources to surface answers to unexpected questions and local context, keeping the guide as the primary voice. For guests who are deaf or hard of hearing, live subtitles are sent directly to their own phones, with no separate equipment issued and no guest visibly marked as needing support. Aura also runs multiple commentary channels in parallel, such as standard, historical, children's, or translated feeds, so different guests on one departure can follow versions suited to them. The article presents Vox's approach as an example of AI extending human expertise rather than replacing it, and says Aura is available now for cruise lines, tour operators, DMCs, and destination experience partners.
