Humanoid Robot Pilot by AGCO and Agility Robotics Planned for Kansas Manufacturing Plant
aiinsider ·
AGCO and Agility Robotics have signed a commercial agreement to pilot the Digit humanoid robot at AGCO’s manufacturing plant in Hesston, Kansas, starting in 2027. The initial deployment will focus on repetitive and physically demanding tasks such as sorting parts, stacking components, and placing totes into storage. This initiative aims to introduce flexible automation into existing production workflows without requiring major infrastructure changes. AGCO views humanoid robotics and AI as essential teammates that augment human capabilities by handling strenuous or hazardous duties. The Digit robot utilizes artificial intelligence to adapt to changing workflows and is managed through Agility Arc, a cloud-based fleet platform. This partnership adds AGCO to a growing list of industrial customers testing Digit, including Toyota, GXO, and Schaeffler. The pilot seeks to evaluate improvements in ergonomics and operational efficiency while shifting physical labor away from employees.
