I Tested Every Major AI Agent for a Day. Here’s the Best One
wired ·
Reece Rogers tested six major AI agents—Meta’s Muse, OpenAI’s Dots, Instinct, Anthropic’s Claude Duet, Google’s Gemini Spark, and xAI’s Grok Bot—to evaluate their ability to handle daily tasks. The review covered five specific scenarios: generating a morning news briefing, ordering lunch for two people with different dietary needs, identifying calendar conflicts, planning a complex vacation itinerary, and assisting with insomnia-related worries. While all agents showed significant improvement over previous iterations, they varied widely in execution; for instance, only Muse and Dots conducted deep research during the briefing task, and only Dots successfully flagged a scheduling conflict proactively. OpenAI’s Dots emerged as the best overall performer due to its reliability and polished interface, despite its high $100 monthly cost. Meta’s Muse was highlighted as the most accessible option because it is free and easy to set up, while Anthropic’s Claude Duet received praise for its user-friendly design. Conversely, Instinct was deemed the most annoying due to its limited texting-only interface and lack of contextual awareness.
