aiinsider ·
Icon has secured $200 million in Series D funding to accelerate the manufacturing and deployment of its robotic construction systems. The round was co-led by Baillie Gifford and BlackRock, with participation from several other prominent investors including Tiger Global and Norwest. Icon plans to utilize this capital to expand production of its Titan multi-story 3D printing system and open a new R&D facility in Austin, Texas. The company reports strong momentum, aiming for four times revenue growth in 2026 and having already completed over 270 structures across multiple states. CEO Jason Ballard stated that construction automation has transitioned from potential to proven reality, citing growing customer demand and commercial deployments. Beyond residential housing, Icon is expanding into defense and space sectors through its Prime division, which has secured significant government contracts. This includes building military barracks at Fort Bliss and collaborating with NASA on Project Olympus for lunar construction. The funding addresses broader industry challenges such as the U.S. housing shortage and an aging construction workforce.
