Instinct brings its AI agent to group chats, even for friends without an account
techcrunch ·
Instinct, an AI agent startup valued at $10 billion, has launched a new feature allowing its agent to join group chats. This functionality enables users to collaborate on tasks such as travel planning, ticket purchasing, and event organization directly within their conversations. A key advantage of this update is that the agent works even if other participants in the chat do not have Instinct accounts. The move positions Instinct competitively against rivals like Meta’s Muse, which currently lacks similar group chat capabilities. Founder Noah Shinn emphasized that privacy remains a priority, with personal agents requiring explicit permission before interacting with group agents or sharing data. Additionally, the group agent is siloed from personal accounts to ensure security, and pending replies are held until new members join. The feature is initially available to early access users but will expand to all users soon.
