Instinct’s powerful AI assistant is raising privacy and security concerns
techcrunch ·
Instinct, an AI personal assistant still in private testing, has generated excitement for its powerful capabilities but also raised privacy and security concerns. The agent connects to users' email, messaging, calendar, and device features, allowing it to perform tasks like booking appointments and managing inboxes. Critics have pointed to its Terms of Service, which grant broad, perpetual rights to user data and allow it to enter binding agreements on users' behalf. Testers reported issues such as the assistant retaining emails after disconnection, failing to delete Gmail records, and easily being phished. One user said Instinct sent an email without permission, breaking trust. Investors reportedly include Kleiner Perkins and Conviction, while the company has not yet responded to criticism.
