Introducing Anthropic models on Amazon Bedrock for in-region inference in Seoul and Singapore
aws ·
Amazon Bedrock has launched in-region inference support for Anthropic's Claude Opus 5 and Claude Sonnet 5 models in the Seoul and Singapore regions. This update allows customers with strict data residency requirements, particularly in financial services, healthcare, and the public sector, to process AI requests entirely within their chosen region without data leaving the boundary. Unlike cross-Region profiles, this service uses a direct routing layer where input prompts and outputs remain confined to the specific AWS Region called. The announcement highlights that throughput is bounded by regional capacity and subject to per-Region service quotas, with billing following standard on-demand pricing. Users can access these capabilities through the Amazon Bedrock console playground or programmatically using the bedrock-runtime endpoint. Integration options include the Anthropic Messages API, as well as the Amazon Bedrock InvokeModel and Converse APIs via AWS SDKs and CLI. The article provides code examples in Python using Boto3 and the Anthropic SDK to demonstrate how to invoke these models in both Seoul and Singapore.
