Introducing the Life Sciences Verification Program
anthropic ·
Anthropic has launched the Life Sciences Verification Program (LSVP) in beta, giving verified life science organizations access to its Mythos, Opus, and Sonnet models with safeguards adjusted to be more permissive for biology-related work. The program is initially for teams and institutions and is intended for work including drug discovery, research biology, clinical development, manufacturing, and related functions. Applicants are reviewed for research credentials, security standards, and ethical oversight, then may seek Standard Use grants for broad team workflows or High-risk Use grants for specific projects requiring additional vetting. High-risk grants remove safeguards that block life sciences requests, while other protections such as cyber classifiers remain; Mythos high-risk access is currently limited to a small set of entities. LSVP uses a shared-responsibility model that ties access to declared use cases and monitors traffic offline for activity outside the approved scope, with flagged-activity data retained for 30 days and excluded from model training. Applications are open to organizations, and the program currently works through Anthropic’s API console and Claude Enterprise and Team plans, but not individual plans, third-party platforms, or BAA-enabled organizations. Anthropic says it plans to expand access and improve the program as it moves beyond the beta.
