Italy’s Eni & Generative Bionics Partner to Explore Humanoid Robotics for Industrial Use
aiinsider ·
Italian energy giant Eni and robotics firm Generative Bionics have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore industrial applications for humanoid robots. The partnership focuses on utilizing the GENE.01 robot for tasks such as inspection, teleoperation, and remote assistance in complex operating environments. This collaboration follows Eni's investment in Generative Bionics through its Eni Next venture-capital arm in December 2025. Joint efforts will also examine hardware improvements, including lighter and stronger footwear designs developed with Eni’s chemicals subsidiary Versalis. The companies plan to evaluate sensor-equipped footwear and assess potential manufacturing and assembly capabilities at Eni’s industrial sites. Additionally, Eni may provide access to its high-performance computing infrastructure to support the development of physical AI models. Battery lifecycle management and recycling processes are also under review as part of this comprehensive industrial analysis.
