Laplace Intelligence red-teams robots and self-driving cars before they hit the real world
techcrunch ·
Laplace Intelligence is developing automated red-teaming solutions to stress-test robotics and self-driving cars before they are deployed in the real world. Founded by Howie Sun and Henry Liu, the startup leverages high-fidelity simulations based on Nvidia’s Cosmos platform to recreate realistic environments from real-world data. The system uses AI agents to proactively identify edge cases and failure points by interacting with simulated actors, such as other vehicles or pedestrians. This approach aims to ensure physical AI safety by discovering issues during the simulation phase rather than after deployment. Laplace has already generated revenue through project-based contracts with customers like Isuzu, Bot Auto, and Nvidia. The company is currently competing in TechCrunch Disrupt’s Startup Battlefield to raise funds and scale its operations. Despite facing competition from well-funded rivals like Applied Intuition, Sun believes their dynamic, interactive testing paradigm provides a significant competitive advantage.
