Laplace Intelligence red-teams robots and self-driving cars before they hit the real world
techcrunch ·
Laplace Intelligence is developing automated red-teaming tools to stress-test robotics and self-driving cars before they are deployed in the real world. Founded by Howie Sun and Henry Liu, the company utilizes high-fidelity simulations based on Nvidia’s Cosmos platform to recreate realistic environments from real-world data. Their system employs AI agents that actively probe for weaknesses and design corner cases, moving away from manual testing methods. The startup aims to provide a shared foundation of safety evidence for customers, insurers, and regulators. Laplace has already generated revenue from autonomous driving clients, including Bot Auto and a major Japanese manufacturer. They are also collaborating with Nvidia and T-Mobile on a smart city pilot in San Jose. Despite competition from well-funded rivals like Applied Intuition, Laplace believes its dynamic, interactive testing paradigm offers a significant competitive advantage.
