Legato Emerges From Stealth With $12M to Launch AI-Powered Hearing Glasses
aiinsider ·
Legato, a hearing technology startup, emerged from stealth with $12 million in funding to launch its AI-powered hearing glasses, called Legato Frames, later this fall. The product targets the roughly 50 million U.S. adults with hearing loss, most of whom currently do not seek treatment. Founded in late 2024 by Mehul Trivedi and Steve Romine, both former Bose wearables and hearing aid division veterans, the company aims to make hearing correction as routine as vision glasses. Unlike traditional hearing aids, Legato Frames use an AI system to separate background noise from voices and reduce listening fatigue. The glasses feature a dual-speaker design that directs sound to the wearer and minimizes sound leakage by 99% for privacy. Investors in the round include Neotribe Ventures, Listen, and Village Global. The glasses will be sold through select eye-care providers, priced below traditional hearing aids, and may be eligible for vision insurance coverage.
