AWS Agent Registry is now generally available as a centralized, searchable catalog for managing AI agents, tools, skills, and custom resources at scale. It addresses common enterprise challenges such as lack of an authoritative inventory, poor cross-team discovery, and missing governance or audit trails. The service operates through two complementary planes: a Governance Plane for admins to configure compliance signals, discovery policies, and custom metadata, and a Discovery Plane that gives consumers a curated, high-performance view of only approved resources with semantic and lexical search. It supports cataloging MCP servers, A2A agent cards, skill definitions, and custom JSON descriptors. The article highlights adoption by companies like Southwest Airlines, PepsiCo, Syngenta, and Amdocs, along with partners such as Informatica and Check Point building integrations. These organizations report reduced duplication, clearer ownership, and better governance of agentic AI systems.
