Meeting notetaker Circleback adds a free tier to attract more customers
techcrunch ·
Circleback, a Y Combinator-backed meeting notetaker, is introducing a free tier amid growing competition in the market from Wispr, Calendly, Granola, Read AI, and Fireflies. The free plan offers unlimited meeting transcription but only stores 30 days of history, while paid subscriptions starting at $14 per month add full integrations, unlimited history, and API access, a price cut from the previous $20.83 starting point. Founded in 2023, Circleback raised $2.5 million and claims profitability with roughly $8 million in run-rate revenue from its eight-person team. Co-founder Ali Haghani explained that the prior trial period caused many users to drop off, so the free tier is meant to attract more users and serve as a marketing expense instead of ads. The company says it is not immediately seeking funding despite investor interest, but remains open to raising money if growth requires it.
