Meta acquires AI coding startup Conductor
techcrunch ·
Meta has officially acquired Conductor, an AI coding startup founded in 2024 that enables users to deploy multiple agents into parallel workspaces for software development. The acquisition was confirmed by Meta and announced by founder Charlie Holtz, who expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Meta’s leadership team at Superintelligence Labs. Conductor’s platform utilizes agents from major labs like Anthropic and OpenAI to help engineers manage compartmentalized project parts. While core features will remain functional until early next year, the company's cloud service is scheduled to shut down on November 20, followed by data deletion. This move aligns with Meta’s recent efforts to accelerate its AI capabilities, including the launch of its own Muse Code agent and other strategic acquisitions. The deal highlights Meta's strategy to integrate specialized agentic tools as it competes in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence landscape.
