Meta AI director Rohit Patel leaves to take on Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
techcrunch ·
Rohit Patel, a former director at Meta Superintelligence Labs, is leaving the company after eight years to launch Ndoc, an AI-native startup designed to replace Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Ndoc aims to unify fragmented workflows by combining presentations, narratives, and underlying data models into a single interface. The platform utilizes open-source models and emphasizes transparency, allowing users to verify Python scripts and formulas behind generated content. Patel believes that simply attaching AI to existing tools is insufficient, arguing for a complete reinvention of how enterprise documents are structured and shared. He has chosen to move quickly as an independent founder rather than navigate the slower processes required to establish open-source standards within a large corporation. Currently, Ndoc is conducting enterprise pilots and offering an alpha version to a limited waitlist, with plans for a beta release in the coming weeks. Patel intends to raise funds only after demonstrating strong product traction and user love for the tool.
