Meta Launches Muse, a Personal AI Agent That Handles Everyday Tasks
aiinsider ·
Meta has unveiled Muse, a personal AI agent meant to handle routine tasks by connecting to users' email, calendars, payment services, and other apps. The release follows Meta's recent $18 billion multistate settlement concerning social media harms. Powered by the Muse Spark model, Muse can send emails, book travel, fill out forms, create shopping lists, and make purchases, with Stripe integrated and Shopify and 1Password planned. It will be available on web, iOS, Android, and WhatsApp, with future expansion to Meta's AI glasses, and offers both free and paid tiers at $20 and $100 per month. Meta says Muse runs in a secure virtual machine and does not access passwords, read payment credentials, or share data with its advertising systems. The company sees this as part of a broader industry move toward agents that execute tasks rather than just answer questions. However, the article notes that Meta's history of privacy settlements and scandals may make consumers wary of granting such deep personal access.
