Meta Opens Muse to Hardware Hackers With Open Source Gadgets Project
aiinsider ·
Meta has launched the Muse Gadgets project, an open-source initiative designed to allow hardware developers to build custom devices connected to its personal AI agent, Muse. The company is providing open-source firmware and a Linux SDK, enabling creators to use low-cost boards like Raspberry Pi or ESP32 to integrate Muse with displays, buttons, and sensors. As part of this rollout, Meta introduced the Muse Home Link, a USB-C gadget that connects the AI to home networks and smart devices such as TVs and speakers. To support early adoption, Meta produced 5,000 units of the Home Link and is distributing them free to Muse subscribers while supplies last. This hardware expansion aligns with Meta’s broader strategy to move Muse beyond a standalone chatbot into various physical interfaces. Additionally, the company recently announced Muse for Small Business, a free tier connecting to platforms like Shopify and Slack, alongside a new enterprise unit for corporate AI offerings. A dedicated Discord channel has been opened to provide support and community interaction for developers participating in the project.
