Meta’s AI agent Muse is now the No. 2 app in the US
techcrunch ·
Meta’s new AI agent app, Muse, has climbed to the No. 2 position on the U.S. iOS App Store following its recent launch. Despite this ranking, download figures indicate a slower initial adoption compared to Meta’s previous major releases like Threads and Meta AI. Sensor Tower data shows Muse has accumulated over 83,000 iOS downloads in the United States, a pace significantly behind ChatGPT’s debut numbers. The app’s Android presence is currently much weaker, sitting at No. 338 in the Productivity category on Google Play. These metrics do not include usage via web platforms or WhatsApp, which also host the service. Meta views agentic AI as a critical future market, positioning Muse against competitors such as Instinct. While Instinct boasts rapid feature development and significant funding, Muse faces headwinds from Meta’s ongoing privacy controversies and legal settlements. The company remains optimistic that agents performing tasks on behalf of users will define the next era of consumer technology.
