Meta’s Muse AI Agent Hits 10M U.S. Downloads in First 40 Days

Meta’s AI agent, Muse, has achieved a significant milestone by reaching 10 million U.S. downloads within just 40 days of its launch in September 2026. According to Sensor Tower data, the app recorded 10.9 million total downloads, with 10.2 million occurring specifically in the United States. This rapid growth places Muse among only 12 mobile apps ever to hit this mark in such a short timeframe, joining exclusive company with titles like Fortnite and Disney+. Meta supported this surge by promoting the agent across its ecosystem of 3.6 billion daily active users and increasing advertising spend, which accounted for 39% of the company's budget in October. Muse also demonstrated superior user retention compared to competitors, posting 30% retention after seven days against lower averages for ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok. While rivals like ChatGPT saw significantly fewer downloads in their initial periods, Muse has maintained the number one spot on the U.S. App Store nearly every day since release. The agent is currently available exclusively in the U.S. and Canada, where it reached 2.5 million daily active users by mid-October.
