Meta’s Muse hits Mac, letting the AI take actions on your computer
techcrunch ·
Meta’s AI assistant app, Muse, is now available on Mac. On the Mac, it can work with files, messages, calendar, notes, and mail inside their native apps. The release follows Muse’s debut on mobile and the web earlier this month, when it quickly climbed to the top of the U.S. App Store charts. As on other platforms, users can choose what Muse may access, and Meta says the app will ask for approval before carrying out sensitive actions. The desktop launch arrives amid growing competition among consumer-facing AI agents, which many in the industry view as the future of computing and a potential disruptor of apps, SaaS, and even hardware such as the iPhone. Other agentic AI products have gained ground, including text-message-based agents; Poke exited to Cognition in July, while Instinct is reportedly raising funds at a $10 billion valuation. The focus now is on which product can win the most consumer market share quickly, prompting Muse and Instinct to ship features rapidly, including voice calling this week; Mark Zuckerberg noted that the team is shipping fast.
