Meta wants you to build your own Muse gadget
techcrunch ·
Meta has launched Muse Gadgets, an open-source initiative allowing developers to create custom hardware that integrates with its personal AI agent, Muse. The project provides open-source firmware and a Linux SDK, enabling users to connect Muse to various devices such as e-ink displays or HDMI sticks using hobbyist computers like Raspberry Pi or ESP32 boards. To support the community, Meta established a Discord channel for assistance and demonstrated the concept with its own 'Muse Home Link' device, which connects the AI to smart home networks. Meta is distributing 5,000 free units of the Home Link to subscribers while supplies last, following significant interest on social media. This hardware expansion aligns with Meta's broader strategy to position Muse beyond a simple chatbot by targeting small businesses and enterprises. Recently, the company introduced Muse for Small Business, offering free access with usage limits connected to tools like Shopify and Slack. Additionally, Meta launched the Meta Enterprise Platform to further drive its AI offerings into the corporate sector.
