techcrunch ·
Microsoft has achieved its tenth consecutive quarter of record-breaking revenue, reporting $92.3 billion for the latest period, which represents a 19% year-over-year increase. The company's net income also surged by 32% on a GAAP basis to reach $36.6 billion, driven primarily by strong performance in its cloud division. Microsoft Cloud generated $63.9 billion in revenue, marking a 30% growth compared to the previous year. This segment includes Azure, which contributed $33.2 billion, and significant earnings from OpenAI amounting to $10 billion. In contrast, the Devices and Consumer segment saw a slight decline, with revenue dropping 3% to $15.5 billion due to a sharp fall in Windows OEM sales. Despite this dip, Microsoft reported a massive 73% increase in commercial remaining performance obligation to $677 billion, reflecting future AI-related commitments. To support these growing demands, the tech giant spent a record $45.2 billion on capital expenditures during the quarter.
