Migrate agentic workloads to Amazon Bedrock AgentCore
aws ·
The article explains how to migrate an existing LangGraph customer-support agent to Amazon Bedrock AgentCore to reduce operational burdens unrelated to agent reasoning, such as patching, session isolation, and tool authentication. It maps ten operational responsibilities to AgentCore services: Runtime hosts the agent on managed infrastructure, Gateway handles tool auth via Lambda-published MCP tools, and Memory stores conversation state across sessions. The migration proceeds in stages: stage 0 establishes a baseline local agent, stage 1 moves the unchanged graph onto AgentCore Runtime, Gateway, and Memory, and stage 2 replaces hand-written conditional routing with model-driven planning using Strands Agents. Stage 3 is documented rather than built and hands the loop to an AgentCore harness. The sample repository includes code and a test suite, and prerequisites include an AWS account with Bedrock model access, Python 3.12, and the AWS CLI. The authors note that inference stays on Amazon Bedrock, and only a constructor changes if coming from OpenAI or Anthropic.
