Milrem Robotics, Chugach Plan US Production Partnership for Unmanned Military Systems
aiinsider ·
Milrem Robotics and Chugach Alaska Corp. have signed a memorandum of cooperation to explore establishing U.S.-based production for Milrem’s unmanned ground systems. The partnership aims to create an industrial base in America for assembly, integration, sustainment, and lifecycle support of these autonomous vehicles. This move is designed to better serve American customers and facilitate Foreign Military Sales to allied nations through established U.S. acquisition channels. Stefan Behre, Milrem’s chief sales officer, emphasized that the goal is to build local capability rather than simply exporting finished systems. Chugach CEO Jonathan Dalrymple highlighted his company's extensive experience in supporting complex defense missions across various sectors. The agreement covers both current and future unmanned ground vehicles, with potential applications extending to commercial uses. While the companies plan to pursue requirements from the U.S. Department of War and other federal agencies, they have not disclosed specific investment levels or manufacturing timelines.
