Mirror Particle is building a ‘world model’ of human behavior
techcrunch ·
Mirror Particle, a San Francisco-based startup, is developing a proprietary 'world model' to predict human behavior by simulating how motivations and actions evolve over time. Co-founder Abhivyakti Ahuja argues that current methods relying on large language models are fundamentally flawed because they cannot capture the dynamic, visual, and social aspects of human cognition. Instead of static roleplaying, Mirror Particle utilizes longitudinal data, including revealed behaviors from social media and current events, to track demographic shifts. The company aims to provide brands with not just predictions but the underlying reasons for consumer choices, helping them make smarter strategic decisions. In an early pilot with a pet food brand, the technology identified that packaging imagery was irrelevant compared to the brand's perceived mass-market status. Mirror Particle has secured an angel round and is preparing for its first venture funding while competing in TechCrunch’s Startup Battlefield. The founders, who met at Amazon Robotics, draw inspiration from neuroscience to build a system that mimics how humans learn about the world. Their long-term vision is to create a general layer for anticipating human behavior, moving from population-level analysis to individual insights.
