Mistral and HUMAIN have announced a strategic collaboration to advance sovereign AI in Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East. The partnership will focus on AI infrastructure, advanced model development, and deploying AI solutions, with initial areas including cybersecurity and voice. They also plan to develop frontier models that perform strongly in Arabic to support the region. The collaboration is valued in the hundreds of millions of Euros, and Mistral will explore using HUMAIN's data center infrastructure for local compute needs. A joint go-to-market strategy in Saudi Arabia will target regulated industries such as financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and the public sector. The effort aims to meet demand for sovereign AI, where customers retain control over data, models, compute, and operations. This builds on Mistral's earlier steps to expand sovereign AI, including a partnership with Microsoft and the introduction of European Compute Units.
