Muse can shop, write emails, and negotiate prices for users, all through WhatsApp

Meta has introduced Muse, an AI agent controlled through WhatsApp that Meta says can autonomously handle tasks such as booking travel, shopping, sending emails, filling out forms, and negotiating on a user's behalf. For larger goals, Meta says Muse plans steps and coordinates time and resources, and it can keep working when the app is closed while checking in for changes or approval before actions like sending an email or making a purchase. Muse can complete purchases through Stripe's Link service, using one-time cards and purchase protection, making Meta the first AI agent covered by Link; Shop Pay and a 1Password connection are planned. This contrasts with OpenAI, which discontinued direct payment in ChatGPT and returned checkout to merchants. Meta says Muse runs in a walled-off cloud virtual machine with a separate oversight agent, Sentinel, that vets outside access, while passwords and payment methods remain hidden from Muse and interactions do not flow into Meta's ad systems. Users can opt out of training AI models, ask Muse to forget data, and later access a planned Muse Confidential VM with user-held encryption keys. Meta describes Muse as a first step toward "personal superintelligence" and cites model progress: Muse Spark from April scored 31 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v4.3, while version 1.3 reaches 44 on xhigh and 48 on max, compared with GPT-5.6 Sol Max at 47 and GPT-6 Astra Max and Claude Fable 5.1 at 53. Muse launches first in the US for iOS and Android, with a link to Meta's AI glasses to follow, a free usage limit, and subscriptions for more usage.
