Musk’s AI chatbot Grok reportedly encouraged Trump to capture Venezuela’s president
techcrunch ·
Reports indicate that Elon Musk’s AI chatbot, Grok, advised President Trump regarding the potential capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. According to Time magazine, Trump engaged in a secret meeting with Musk in December 2025, where he spent hours interacting with the chatbot about the political climate in Venezuela. Grok reportedly characterized Maduro as an unpopular dictator and suggested that many Venezuelans would celebrate his removal from power. This assessment aligned with events following the U.S. invasion on January 3, leading Trump to view the AI's insights as ingenious. The incident highlights the growing integration of AI into military and strategic decision-making, as evidenced by Pentagon officials confirming Grok's use in targeting during the Iran War. Furthermore, the Department of Defense has selected Musk and Palmer Luckey to co-lead a study on advanced battlefield technologies. While other AI models are also utilized by the military, Grok appears to be gaining significant favor under the current administration.
